Mongo’s Tool Library

We are so thrilled to be able to offer our Tool Library to our community! Please read the steps below carefully before submitting a tool request.

1) Check our Inventory to make sure we have what you need and that it is available. If it’s not, we suggest hitting up our friends at North Durham Tool Library or Keep Durham Beautiful. Our Inventory is sorted just by name and tool ID, so please make sure you know what the tool you need looks like before inquiring!

2) Submit a Tool Request via the form to the right on this page. Someone will be in touch with you in 2-3 business days. Please be patient as this is a shared project run by busy Scrappers!

3) Once your request has been received, we’ll check our stock and get back to you with availability of the tool, location of our Tool Library within the Reuse Center, combination for the door lock, and where the tool is located within the library. You’re welcome to come grab your tool anytime during store business hours (10:30am - 5:30pm). Please make sure you fully close the door back when you leave the library!

4) Our Tool Library is pay what you can, so if you are able, please submit a small donation so we can keep this community resource rolling. There will be QR codes posted in the Tool Library and in your tool rental confirmation email.

5) If any questions come up, please reach out to programs@scrapexchange.org.

Mongo’s Tool Library Disclaimer

TSE staff is not able to offer facilitation in any projects or teaching you how to use the tool you have rented from the Tool Library. Please make sure you secure your own helpers and familiarize yourself with whatever item you have rented from us. We do not have a staffer on site to oversee anything beyond access to the library.

Community Agreements + Liability Waiver

The tools in our collection are for the use of The Scrap Exchange Tool Library (hereafter “Tool Library”) members. Out of respect for future users, please clean any tools you borrow before returning them and report any damage to the Scrap Exchange Programs Staff immediately. If you feel compelled to return them in better condition than when you borrowed them, that would be highly appreciated.

By agreeing to this waiver below, I state that I am capable and experienced in using the tools I am borrowing, and that I will use the tools I am borrowing in a proper manner. I do hereby for myself, on behalf of my successors and assigns, in consideration of being permitted to borrow tools, waive any and all claims against The Scrap Exchange, its officers, board of directors, and employees for any injury or injuries of any nature that I may suffer or incur in the use of the tools that I am borrowing from the TSE Tool Library. I do hereby for myself, on behalf of my successors and assigns, in consideration of being permitted to borrow tools, agree to release and indemnify and hold harmless The Scrap Exchange, its officers, board of directors, and employees from any and all liability, loss, claims, and demands, actions or causes of action for the death or injury to any persons and for any property damage suffered or incurred by any person which arises or may arise or be occasioned in any way from the use of tools I am borrowing from TSE Tool Library. I am aware that The Scrap Exchange Inc., its partners, directors, officers, members, and employees claim no expertise and make no representation concerning the fitness of any tool for any particular use. I affirm that the above information is current, true and correct and may be subject to verification. I further state that I have read and fully understand the rules and regulations of The Toolshed Exchange Tool Library and I understand that failure to comply with any of these rules may result in revocation of my borrowing privileges and/or legal action against me. I have read and agreed to a Waiver and Indemnification form, relinquishing any and all claims against The Scrap Exchange, its officers, agents, and employees.
