Pattern Cloning 101

Ever wanted to make your favorite tee-shirt or dress in 5 different colors, but didn't want to take it apart to trace the pattern? In this workshop, we will cover the basics of making a 2D paper pattern from a 3D piece of clothing you already own- this technique is called Pattern Cloning or Pattern Rubbing. Let's start with a simple item you would like to clone and we will cover the basics of transfering the details to a 2D paper pattern, adding seam allowances, etc. Students should bring an item they would like to clone so we can do our best to trace the shape on paper. This workshop will only be tracing the pattern, there will be no sewing.
