The Scrap Exchange is seeking submissions from creative reuse artists and groups to exhibit their work during the 2013 calendar year in the Green Gallery, our in-house art gallery dedicated to showcasing artists who use reclaimed materials and/or ideas in their work.
We are looking for artists who examine themes of creative reuse and repurposing through both materials and ideas. Work can be in any medium, but must involve an element of reuse, from using upcycled materials in 2-D and 3-D art to sampling and remixing sound, video, or imagery.
Green Gallery shows change monthly, and openings are scheduled on the third Friday of each month, in conjunction with Durham’s Third Friday gallery walk.
If you are interested in exhibiting your work, creating an installation, or curating a group show at The Scrap Exchange in 2013, please email ideas to gallery [at] scrapexchange.org and include “Green Gallery 2013” in the subject line. Submissions must include:
- a brief description of the show or installation idea (150-300 words)
- bios or CVs for all artists involved
- 3-5 images of work. If it is a group show, please be sure to include images from several different artists. Please clearly label all images with the artist name and include an attachment listing the dates, dimensions, medium, and title of the work.
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis with the final deadline on December 1, 2012. Only complete submissions will be reviewed. A committee of community members and artists will select all Green Gallery exhibitions. Artists will be notified if their submission has been selected by January 3, 2013.
