Unleashing
the Music in Found Objects
Sound artists: Cathy Kielar, Blaise Kielar, and Peter
Reintjes
Opening reception Friday, August 15, 6 -9pm
with
a Found
Sound Rhythm Jam starting at 8pm.
Finally, an exhibit where you can touch the art! In fact you can drum, clang, scrape, jingle, and shake the art.
Cathy Kielar says “I see and hear the beautiful musical instrument embedded in everyday objects.” Explore
the creation of rhythmic fun with everyday objects found in your kitchen,
recycling bin, or even your bedroom. Play creative
rhythms on the Kielars’ acoustic instruments. Go wild with Peter Reintjes’s
transducer/loudspeaker electronic sounds (a
la David Tudor’s Rainforest IV style). Applying his electronic talents, Peter
uses found objects as if they were loudspeakers, with each object contributing
its own resonant frequency to the sound experience.
Cathy Kielar has been the rhythym circle
facilitator and found sound artist at Music
Explorium since 2003. Her heroes
are Auntie Mame
and Muhammad
Ali. Peter
Reintjes works for the Museum of Life and Science and his heroes are
